Re: One piece of advice
See it as a "big adventure" and enjoy looking at the newness of everything. See each day as a new day to explore...even if its only to a new park or new beach.
Try not to live with other people for too long ....but get your own rental asap. (If the people you are staying with have any negativity - they will try and pass that onto you)
THINK POSITIVE...KEEP SMILING......and sing in your head "Thingsssss can only get better" or "the only way is up" or HELP! just kidding.
Hope this helps.
It's in no way easy.....but enjoy the ride

If shipping all your stuff, pack plenty of 4 way adaptors.
Oh and if you like Dysons buy a new one before you come.
Dont chuck out any little bits like cheese graters and such if they will fit pack them. Its amazing how much the little bits add up to.

But if you could only offer ONE piece of advice to anyone who is due to arrive in Australia what would it be?
Lets not fight over what each person offers, just give your tip and move on

A few things that have probably already been mentioned.
Make time to visit beaches, mountain towns, nature reserves. If I am ever feeling panicky about what we have done this reminds me why we did it.
And definitely take one day at a time, I got caught up for while looking into the future here without family and friends but now that I have learnt to take each day at a time I am much happier.
And stick together, no matter how bad the day has been or how miserable you are feeling your partner is your best mate/right hand man/support network and probably anything else you can think of all rolled into one and we need to remember that and appreciate it and look out for each other. I know this because we went through a couple of miserable weeks and really took it out on each other because we didnt have any other outlet, but we took stock and got right back on track and made up for the bad weeks and that makes everything so much better.
