Your inability to get the name right, is perhaps suggestive of other ill founded conclusions.
Hardly a very significant contributor to BE over recent years, but let that pass. You may well just have noted the far more dominant contributors, day in and day out, spewing their ideological agendas, but chose to focus on derisive comments towards this poster. More suggestive of you and your preconceived notions than based on any reality.
Why wouldn't I remain in Australia and give reality assessments of the situation on the ground here in Perth. Something obviously you have nothing to contribute with regards to.

This off topic personal bickering really puts me off posting on this site.

You and lots of others. Unfortunately this is pretty much where the Australia forum is at these days and has been for some time. You may have found them already, but there are other forums out there which are more niche, have a specific state by state section - you're probably far more likely to get sensible answers about Perth there!

Fully agree on the tedious nature of this thread. So how's Perth then? Another stat that surfaced recently being the increased number on last year with regards to the closure of small business here. A big jump in figures as more go under. QLD second in line but still a bit behind.
730 Report last night suggested coffee prices are in decline at some cafes. Not around my manor unfortunately, but rather suggestive of the times.

Yep that would be reliance on mining as the chief industry.
Probably NT 3rd right?

Resource melt down. You may well be on to something there. Although the resource states will naturally be most impacted, I doubt any state will escape the loss of revenue.

SG if you want to discuss Perth then feel free to PM me. I've been here 9 years and I think I have a fairly balanced view of the place. Don't love it but don't hate it either.

Not really. It may not be impacting you personally but it is certainly impacting NSW and the rest of Australia. Government tax receipts are down meaning more deficit and more tax on investments. NSW state royalties are down on depressed coal price and mines closing
In my field, design engineering, things are busy in Sydney but rates and salaries remain depressed (in fact, I still earn more here than I could there) - and what this tells us is that supply must be rising. This makes sense as engineers and designers are moving back to the east coast from the west and the ones that remained are staying put. New migrants are choosing Sydney rather than Perth
Economics 101
Make no mistake - the whole of Australia is being affected

That said, if you don't move companies you probably won't see a rise, but if you do, there's a big shortage of good people and salaries are good.

In the UK its going gangbusters and rates are rising dramatically
Simple supply and demand equation in both cases - there is no other factor when it comes to the cost of labour. Economics 101

Not so in design engineering. In one of the fields that I work in, HV power (infrastructure basically) there is plenty of work in Sydney. Salaries are a joke though and I could still earn more here
