Hubby went out to Australia in March (had a job to go to - under RSMS visa) and the girls and I have been back here in the UK trying to sell the house. Well accepted an offer mid June and the 'chain' (which we was not aware of) broke down a couple of days ago.
Where do we go from here?

I can't offer any advice other than hang in there mate. We have been through this too and it is a real pain.
We had booked flights and shipped our furniture when our buyers decided they wanted to knock a further £34k off the agreed price
We ended up living in Asutralia for 6 months before the house sold again, it was all handled by a relative back there and the estate agent, solicitor were great.
I know it seems like the end of the world but it really isn't.

Hi
'House Chains' - they can be a nightmare
Again, morale support to you. Must be hard with hubby already in Australia.
We are dreading the day we have to put our house back up on the market, especially now we are in OZ! That will be a NIGHTMARE

We took their offer understanding that they were 'cash' purchasers from their parents, who wanted to invest their money. But it comes to light 11 weeks after that they accepted an offer from someone else who offeder more than her parents. And needless to say that the it went boobs up!

Your estate agent needs a rocket up their arse for not telling you about the chain and not keeping up to date with the sale - thats their primary function after the house is 'sold'
If you really want to move out you 'could' just rent it out , if you need the equity from it then you can remortgage in advance and then rent it out .
There are many many implications to this but it is at least one way of leaving the house - there are many threads on the subject if you search.

Again, no suggestions but after what we have been I wish anyone with house selling woes the best of luck.

I feel for you. To go through this without your hubby must be so lonely. Have you got a lot of family support around?
