Default Oh No !!!!!!!!!!!

Nightmare !!! (For me anyway)

My tooth has just broke, one at the side, now i have a broken toothy smile :scared: im dreading going to the dentist cause they are so damn expensive here, hubby is in the middle of getting 2 crowns plus a couple of fillings done and that has amounted to almost $7000, i was avoiding going until he had all his work done and paid off now im going to have to go and pay around $3000 for a crown, or risk losing a tooth which will probably be really noticeable

no fair, i could have done with winning millionaire !!!!

Any donations greatfully received to the Fees broken tooth appeal .

You might be cheaper getting a flight back to Scotland & getting it done there.

just what you don't need 5 weeks before Xmas.

I broke my tooth earlier this year and the dentist just built it back up again with a white filling. It was a molar and the back half broke away so I was expecting a crown or something. Anyway he only charged me $125 which I thought wasn't bad. Hopefully yours will be the same.

Probably a bit late now but have you thought about taking out private medical cover to help with your dental costs. My hubby and I have ran up over $2,000 in dental fees since June (the bill is more pain than the teeth). That said we have been able to claim about 40% of that back from our private health care.

Also it is worth keeping hold of all your receipt because if you are spending more than $1,500 on treatment once you have taken off any medicare or private health benefit then you can claim 20% back on tax for all expenses over $1,500. Further details here. http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/co....htm&page=3&H3

Hope it helps to save you a few $$$$

Good luck

Sharon

Just a thought if you dont already have cover plus you can claim some .

That price seems very high, where are you. I asked out dentist about crowns the other week when I was in there. She said they cost $1000each with her. Maybe worth a trip to my dentist

We are about and hour and a halfs flight north of melbourne in the murray outback, so kinda rural but that shouldnt reflect the price of a dentist should it ???

The dreaded dentist :scared:

My main fear with living here will be having to come up against these sorts of medical costs.

I wish you all the best and I hope that the $ sign isn't too high

I think it probably would especially if there the only one in the area. Might be worth a trip to melbourne. Go to yellow/white pages and look for dentists on your side of the city and phone them up for a price. Could save you both about $5k I would think.
