Offshore job- does this affect PR status?
I am currently on a skills assessed, employee sponsored PR visa.
I have been offered an extremeley lucrative, FIFO offshore job by another employer.
How would this affect my residency if I took this role? I would be in Australia for less than 180 days a year, would not be working in Australa or paying tax.
Job is extremely lucrative but have to balance this up with quality of life issues.

Question, is the job within Australian territorial waters on on Australian Territory?

I can only assume that you would need to speak to the ATO to confirm if you would be considered non-Tax Resident and also contact the Gabon government to determine if you would be Tax resident there. I assume that the ATO would require you to be Tax Resident somewhere.
I can't understand why you feel it wouldn't be a problem. You're taking a job in West Africa for over half of the year and obviously have no interest in working/living in Australia. When the government see this, and they will, they would not renew your Visa. Why would they ?
If you were on a straight PR then I don't see how it would be an issue, you would just fall foul in five years time when you need to leave the country for work and your PR has expired, but on this Visa I think they would have a serious issue.

If the visa is his free and clear ie an ENS 121 then it is straight forward (for now at least). Only an issue visa wise if he is on an RSMS which has a revoking clause if you leave the employer before 2 years are up.
Only visa issue I can see is if he needs an RRV and hasn't been here enough time - but if still here 5 months of the year for example and can demonstrate significant ties it may still be possible!!!
So what is the OP actually asking about
losing current visa? tax status? RRV? entitlement to citizenship?
