Default NZ Truckers

Can any NZ trucker shed some light on this question? I am a UK trucker who is hopefully soon to migrate to NZ and the question i would like answering is this: Here in the UK and Europe we are policed by driving hours and tachograph laws. You are only allowed to drive 4,1/2hrs and then you must take a break for 45mins. In one shift the accumalated time you are allowed to drive is 9 hrs 3 times a week and 2 10hr drives. You are allowed to work 3 13hr shifts and 2 15hr shifts.
What are the rules governing the driving hr laws in NZ and am i correct in saying that you don`t use tacho`s but instead use the old method of logbooks?
I hope someone can give me info and i need to know pretty quick. So come on you nz truckers help a UK driver swot up on your laws.
Thank you in advance
