I've just had bad news from my employer that they cannot put me forward for PR as they haven't met the required training spend that the government require As a result they may lose their ability to sponsor going forward.

It leaves me with 1 of 2 options.

A - get another company to take over my 457
or
B - transfer to our NZ office which they have said I can do

My question is, does anyone know if I work in NZ for 2 years and obtain PR can I come back to Australia and work freely on NZ PR? Or do I have to become a citizen? I wouldn't mind doing 2 years but apparently it takes 5 years in NZ to become a citizen and I'm not sure I fancy that

You can apply for PR on your own surely? You don't need a company to sponsor you

You will need to become an NZ citizen, which I believe takes 5 years. You can then move to Australia but you will not be PR rather on a special NZ visa that does not allow for PR

the only PR option I have is ENS but my company will not pass on one of the requirements sadly

You have no rights to live in Australia as an NZ PR. As an NZ citizen you are allowed to have temporary resident status in Australia.

Yes you cannot work in Oz on a mere NZ PR. either you apply for your AU PR vis in your own right, or get NZ citizenship which will allow you to live and work in AU on a Special Category Visa (temp visa) which is granted whenever you arrive in AU and ceases when you leave AU.

....even if you just leave for a day!
