Default NZ - help a middle aged spreader to live a little!

Hello all, we are heading for NZ some time next year and already have our visas (General Skills).

I will search this forum but just wanted to know: we don't plan to find jobs for a few weeks/ months when we arrive (I am pushing middle age and need to live a little!) - where would NZ'ers or people who know NZ recommend as being well worth a visit/ stay?

We will buy a car on arrival so transport won't be an issue.

Thanks - Don

It all depends on what u want to do. Beach, mountains, forest, country/city, people/
no people.

I like to bug out for a few days at one of the thermal hot springs places in the Bay
of Plenty.

We variously like all of the above apart from city (ie Auckland, but we could be wrong on that too if it has its attractions!)
