we do however get the advantage of moving over.. securing a job.. with no visa issues and then applying for PR

which must be an easier route to securing enough points

or have i got that all wrong? :unsure:

The only benefit it gives you is if you get extra points for already having worked in a job in Australia before you apply for PR. We picked up an extra 10 points for this but I'm not sure if the rules have now changed.

Also some jobs eg government are not available to temporary visa holders and that includes New Zealanders.

Does anyone know how long after a NZ citizenship has been approved can you move to Australia? Is there a stand down period? Any info. would be much appreciated. Thanks :D :thumbsup:

there isnt a standown period at all..

people have gained citizenship and boarded a plane as soon as their passport arrived.. and no issues
but

you did sign a piece of paper saying that you were going to make NZ your home.. so it "could" be an issue if immigration somehow found out and asked why you are now in OZ..

but if there is a plausible explanation .. in the highly unlikely event of you getting pulled later on.. i cant see it being too problematic
