Have a look at the Migration Agents Registration Authority Website at the following link. It tells you how much agents generally charge.

I have noticed my website is not working tonight, but it should be sorted out by tomorrow.

I know all about coming to Oz as we moved here in 2000 when I left the Police. If i can offer any advice, just ask.

here's the link to the MARA site:

Your site is still down!
Not sure what advice I need :o but will ask when my brain gets into gear. I'm mainly stuck on the skills assessment part and really need something to help me along that line for now.....

Can you please find out if he just put down that it took 2 years or if he required additional evidence???
Thanks ;)

I seem to remember each unit (including completion date) was signed by the assessor. Will double check when my hubby wakes up(Not lazy, on nights last night).

Someone must have obtained a visa using NVQ 3 or at least had a positive assessment from VETASSESS using one?????

As much detail as possible please as I really need to know if I stand a chance

Yup, nvq3 does help. My TRA was cleared in 15 days only as i had cleared nvq3 just 2 months ago.

Ian Harrop also stopped me applying for the wrong thing with vetassess... maybe worth a call. I went through vetassess before signing up with him.

I hope Mr Ace can help you though too.

Don't forget, a skills assessment is only way of getting in to australia - there are other visa programmes you can follow if the goal is to get to Oz.

I am more than happy to help .

Hi AB,
Sincere apologies AB I didn't forget you, I have been sick as a pig with the flu. Still feeling rough but I know how frustrating it can be when you are waiting for someone to get back to you with vital info.

Got some good news for you, I have just been through hubby's folder and the dates for completion of the units range from May 2004 to May 2005 just one year. Some of the evidence precedes May 2004 but the course duration entered on the VETASSESS form was 1 year. As you can see from our time line there was no problem at all with the skills assessment and it was approved in 17 days.

I really hope this is helpful and once again sorry for the delay.

Good Luck
ACE ;)

P.S. If I can help with anything else please let me know.

hope this helps

We had contact with Ian Harrop Associates today and whilst we didn't speak to Ian himself, whoever took our call was very unprofessional and unhelpful. We were basically told we were no hopers with NVQ 3's, Microsoft Certification and various other quals from school including A and O Levels. Didn't even get chance to tell the woman exactly what jobs we do. Literally a 2 minute phone call in which time the lady didn't even ask our names :(

We would of liked to explore other visa's but the snotty cow didn't seem to want to give us the time of day

Whatever happens, the decision has been made - we will go to Oz in the next couple of years even if it means retraining here first or going there on a student visa. Our advice to anyone who encounters such unhelpful migration agency staff - don't let them ruin your dream, where there is a will there's a way.

Hmm sounds very much like the response I got, but another agent and a Vetassess rep say I have a good chance, funny old world isn't it. Good luck :D
