Hi, I think you will be in demand wherever you choose to go. Some specialities are in greater demand - what do you do?

Hi, I work in intensive care. I think in your speciality you will easily get a job. Nurses are currently the only ones on the ministers priority processing list.
We applied on the 25th Nov and were asked to do medicals and police checks on New Years Eve, (not bad for over crimbo). You could always do agency until you get the job where and when you want.
We want to go to Brissy probably about Aug/Sept. We are going to book flight as soon as we get visa. But we are unsure of when to sell house (mother-in-law is very nice but I wouldn't like to stay longer than a few weeks there).

I'm off to Fremantle/Perth in March. I'm an ENP and have a job in the ED. Perth has an airport, Uni and plenty of good schools (so Im told). There is also quite a few hospitals to choose from in and around Perth.

Hope this helps - good luck.

Hi Karen,

We're in a very similar position to you.

Hope to go to Sunshine Coast in August.
I'm an A&E nurse.

Have you found any good agencies or websites for jobs in SE Qld?
I'm struggling to find anything A&E!

Hi, Lou, I am going to choose the place I want to work carefully and approach them direct. I had a job at the Royal Brisbane Hospital last year but we decided to stay whilst hub finishes teach training. You will get a job easily I should think. Im feeling quite confident.

Hi, Gelomaa, mother-in-law says Perth seems different to the rest of Oz, both have ex-pats.

Hi Karen,

I was thinking of the direct approach. I work with a couple of Australians who say it's the best way but I was hoping there would be somewhere I could look to guage what was around. But thanks for replying!

(BTW an ENP is an Emergency Nurse Practitioner)

gelomaa,

I haven't been to Perth but a good friend of mine has moved all over Oz and settled in Perth (and is at Uni there) and wouldn't live anywhere else.

Despite her enthusiasm for it we're heading for Qld but maybe in order to make your decision you should look at want you want on a more personal rather than practical level? Both cities will meet your practical needs.

Good luck anyway

Lou

Re Nursing
Hi everyone, I'm a renal nurse specialising in renal transplant and CAPD. We are hoping to settle in Perth, and are planning a visit at the end of May this year in order to validate PR visa.
I have pre arranged a formal visit to the renal unit at the fremantle hospital, however does anyone know if the Fremantle has a renal transplant unit.

Regards Gina & Tony

on a personal level,
we like to socialise with family and friends.
summer is our best time for this in the uk ie barbecues and water fights, so i think we would fit in oz easily in that respect, but we would love to live by, but not exclusivley to expats, brits which would help the adaptation process. i know that there are 12 % uk living in helensville but all the other places i have looked at have about 8%. any answers guys???
