Default is this normal sydney weather?

i came here nearly 2 years ago and the weather always seems to go from one extreme to the other
it's roasting 35+(so hot that every one hides indoors) one day then pissing down heavily the next
is it usually like this?

Same here in Brisbane

We have been told by some 'locals' that this is what the summers used to be like before the drought years.

Last summer was a relatively cool one, and despite all predictions this one seems to be going down the same route...
However, it will probably be a bit more consistant in Jan/Feb when it is peak summer - you must bear in mind summer only started a week ago

This is quite normal.

Sydney weather goes in cycles - usually 5 days.

Starts off cool, warms up gradually over the next 3-4 days culminating in a 'cool change' when the next front moves across (which often brings showers).

It's actually quite good as it's never really hot for extended periods - not like Adelaide which often gets seriously long periods of seriously hot weather. It's not unusual to hear of them getting a fortnight of 35+ temperatures EVERY day .

That sort of weather never happens here - thank goodness.

Look. I have a complaint. When my GBF was persuading me (for ten years!) to move here, he told me the temperature never got into single figures.

I moved here, it got down to single figures, he said, "I've never known it this cold in ten years". I was still shivering in August. He said, "it's not usually this cold in August". Now it pours down regularly, he says, 'I've never known it this wet in Summer".

I've just come down from the local mall looking like I'm about to enter a wet t-shirt competition. (Note to self: Sydney is not a safe place to go braless.)

Men. Even the gay ones tell us fibs.

Ummmmm....cream and blue, not normally see-through.

Sun's out again now. I can cope with this, knowing it's the Singapore wet season.

Any lurking photographers would have needed a wide-angled lens.

With a very strong zoom...

Been in Sydney for 6 days and just looked at a house in Turramurra today - lots of rain, thunder, lightning but no dungeon (probably why it was almost affordable)

I'm loving the crazy weather too
