Non-shipper insurance

Non-shipper insurance
We have booked Crown to come on 14th June.
If we decide not to take their insurance, at what time do
we have to have insurance in place? When they start packing
or when the stuff leaves our house in the container? Or earlier?
For the insurance that IanJ recommends (can't remember for
the moment what it's called, but I know I can find it easily)
do we have to fill out a detailed valuation or does it work
on a lump sum amount?
Now things are actually happening (ie flights and shippers booked etc) I'm sure i'll have loads more questions, so please bear with me.
Thanks Karen

See my earlier thread about self insurance. The form with Liverpool Insurance company wasn't very detailed and doesn't actually have a start date as such. It just becomes active on the day that packing starts and finishes at the other end when the unpacking finishes. So you have to have the form returned from the insurers with a stamp for it to be valid.
Having signed the disclaimer for PSS shippers we'll be watching them like hawks and if they **** us about you'll all know about it.

from the company before the packing starts? What do you
need to arrange the insurance and how long does it take?
OMG the packers are coming on the 14th June and we haven't even starting valuing everything yet!!! Do you have to itemise everything or can you lump things together?
Help

I justy phoned Letton Percival, they sent me a form, I filled it in, which was a doddle as they do lump it together into areas (Dining, Lounge Furniture, Toys, Garden Eqpt etc etc) and then
then
then
I just kept hold of it as I haven't got to exchange yet on the house. Simple though all in all and the form is easy enough.
Once I get to exchange, its in the post back to them in time for the removals to get here and pack it all up.
Simple........apparently
