no claims bonus
Just looking into this, do we need to have a letter confirming our NCB or will the certificate of insurance do? Mine says "maximum" though, so will this be any good?

I got a letter from mine saying i had a full 7 years protected no claims bonus.
My Aussie insurers wanted a copy of this the and they gave me the same thing over here (but better) called rating one, for life

Many Insurers will accept your word that you have proof of No Claims Discount from the UK, but in the event of an accident, it is highly likely that they will want to see the proof prior to paying out the claim. My advise is to send a copy of it to the Insurer, so they have it on file.
As long as it says the NCD entitlement, any official document from the UK insurer should be sufficient.

I've got about 9 years but my certificate just says "maximum" will this be sufficient?
