Here in Perth you hear about gun crimes, meat cleaver attacks etc. What you have to realise is the difference in town size/population etc etc. Personally I think it depends on your previous situation - I hear plenty of cars race along the main road near us (doing more like 120 in a 70 zone), but as yet I havent uttered the phrase 'bloody hoons' - although no doubt I will do in the future ;-) Dave |

I would have thought that it is a requirement to be mad to be a serial killer, but then I could be bonkers myself ;) :D :D Most psychopaths (such as one on our ward right now) show no trace of mental illness. No depression, mania, psychosis, nothing. They usually have personality disorders. You could look at it as a legal definition if that helps, or just that 'evil' is evil. Of course you can have a mental illness and a personality disorder, but the two don't necessarily go together. You asked me for examples......Adolf Hitler is a pretty good example, although he showed evidence of psychosis towards the end of the war, commanding imaginary armies and so on. Harold Shipman is another. Again, he appears to have had a breakdown at the time of his trial, but when assessed by psychiatrists originally, seemed to know exactly what he was doing when he killed all those people. Personality disorders are weird, fascinating and often very disturbing in the way they present, but they are not all serial killers! In fact, this is a relatively common condition and sadly afflicts many folks who have been abused as children for example. People who self-harm through cutting or eating disorders are commonly lumped in this category. Disclaimer: The above is a simplification of complex issues and is not meant to offend anyone. Nevertheless, my central tenet remains true. :) |

Re: Nice !.........Does this happen in Brisbane?
It should be noted that the guy allegedly shouted "you've had this coming for 20 years" before he cut off the other bloke's head so clearly knew his victim.
In true classic style a Police spokeperson said they believed the crime was not a random attack! Duh! Cadman |
