Stick to Target, they are cheaper and if you expose enough flesh then no bloke here gives a monkey's where they came from.

Wassat? Shallow? Just telling it like it is ...

Target are currently selling a strappy kids top with exactly the same design as a top my 5yo bought in Next in July. Iy's just a different fabric. I also spotted a kids tee in Big W today that was pretty much identical to one we had from Next 2 years ago.

This isn't the first time I've seen Next clothes in Target. I also saw a Primark top I have in Big W the other week. The moral of the story........wee chinese man who maketh clothes for Next, also run a few up for Target at half the price so save yourself the bother:lol:.

I know this is the long way round however you could buy them online and get them to delivered to a family member in the UK who can then post them on.

My sister-in-law told me she's had them shipped direct to her in QLD... haven't looked into it myself yet as she only mentioned it at the weekend, but it might be worth a nosey on their website to check it out.

Re: Next Clothes

Looks like I will be bringing all of my 18 month old daughters clothes out with me then! Would have left them here but most of her clothes are from next and even though they are 4 months old they still look like new. Better register for OZ ebay so people can get their fix!

Re: Next Clothes

Thankfully you cannot get Next stuff by mail unless a family member buys them and sends them to you. Target stuff is identical to much of Next stuff - buys from the same factory. The reason they "may" not last as well as Next crap is that drying outside in the sun here automatically fades and weakens clothes quicker than hanging them out to dry in the UK.

annb Oct 2nd 2007 9:53 pm

Re: Next Clothes

how do you know that next buys from the same factory as target?

moneypenny20 Oct 2nd 2007 9:57 pm

Re: Next Clothes

Because buyers for Next have been on here in the past stating that fact and because I have in the past bought stuff from Target which turned out to be identical in every way, shape and form to Next stuff. I should imagine the same factory turns out the same stuff to lots of other countries as well.

I think Zara and Topshop have suppliers that distribute through other retailers in Oz as well. Not on a big scale, but have seen the same fabrics and designs over here.

But they must be inferior to the ones they ship to the UK!. :sneaky:

Maybe they use cheaper fabric for Australia. ;)

Re: Next Clothes

yep i really would have to agree that the quality is just not the same and the designs for kid clothes in particular are so much more trendy in next than in target! and believe me i have just bought up big time at the next summer sale in the uk and brought it all back with me! but next time i am in target i will check more closely!

Re: Next Clothes

Try Ebay UK - many will post to Australia and quite a few new items listed.
I will also be listing loads of girls UK & European brand clothes shortly (age 18 months - 3 years).

I tend to still buy from Boden (sales) and just got a package from Gymboree (US). I got four t-shirts, one blouse, one pair jeans, one cardi and a tracksuit for $120 including postage.

In Oz - I tend to buy mainly from Seed and Country Road in their outlet shops. They are good quality.

But Target does not have a petite section. Are there any shops out here that do ? I think Myer does but Myer is pricey !

Apart from work shirts, ties and suits, I think the quality of Next togs has rapidly gone downhill over recent years.

Having said that, whenever I tried to order online from a recently delivered directory I could guarantee that 90% of the items would be out of stock.

After being loyal to Next for many years, I changed my allegiance to Debenhams brands (Rocca John Rocca etc) and never looked back.

Still wearing 3 year old RJR polo shirts today, though they've yet to experience an aussie summer

Now if Debenhams were to open up out here.........(I did read that they were considering buying Myer or David Jones at some point)

....but until then, Target and KMart will suit me fine

Re: Next Clothes

NEXT!!! Quality!! Remember Next was started by a market trader in Leicester and the quality hasn't improved since those days! it's mass produced naff that you will see your next door neighbour wearing.

Why do people still feel the need to cling onto this??

Next is crap - why do people feel they have to dress their kids 'trendy'? are the kids really bothered about what they wear? ...were they ever bothered about what they wore or was it the materialistic parent that fed them this crap that made them believe they must look a certain way?

I used to have kids come into nursery wearing their 'best next' clothes and the parents would then moan if the child got a mark on them from playing and learning:zzz: it makes me cringe!!

To go to the other side of the world and still feel withdrawals for 'trendy' kids clothes (or adults clothes for that matter) is wrong in my eyes!

Kids are kids!! - individuals!! not fashion accessories!!

and yes, i have been to aus before and when i was there, there were plently of nice enough clothes for kids and adults.

Threads like this start the scaremongerers off, from the UK. They start to believe they will never be able to buy decent clothes again.

I even heard one comment from someone saying 'they only go up to a ladies size 14'...i mean, what do all the larger aussie ladies wear:rolleyes:

Each to their own but it's a load of crap imo!

well we could also do with a primark over here, maybe you can get the same sort of clothes in australia but there is no way you can get primark prices!! they are the clothes you can send you kids to daycare in and not care if they got a mark on them as they only cost a quid!!

Do we ever give a monkey's where they came from anyway???? Cheap or expensive? British or Aussie? Most men don't care about that kinda stuff but the ladies seem to think we do.

I lobe Pumpkin Patch. I was finding that for 5yo and up in Next, a lot of the clothes were getting very grown up. PP stuill does "cute" stuff for little girls not trying to look like teens.

Don't get me wrong, I miss Next, I miss the familiarity of it and the choice, but I don't miss going to a kid's party and 10 of the girls all having the same Next outfit on:).

Yes,. My 5 yo and I were in Pumkin Patch yesterday looking for a white cardi for her and she practically begged me to buy her a pink jacket they had. Even my 3 yo has definate ideas of what she likes (not she she always gets her own way lol)

I was being facetious :D

I couldn't give a rats arse. I used to buy all our clothes from the markets. I've never bought anything from Next (or anywhere similar) in my life. :D

Hi all

I've just had a recent trip back to the UK and was disappointed with Next. Plus I seem to have gone up a couple of sizes, must be cutting back on material :D!

So, if you are thinking about getting family to mail order for you, just be careful of the sizing as all my other clothes still fit me!

Re: Next Clothes

i have found that I only need vest tops, 3 pairs of shorts. 2 x bathers and thongs! The only thing I have a problem with is sports kit, theres not many sports shops here so you can''t hunt a bargin I.E (soccer shop)kids trainers when there is a sale on it's very limited so most kids are wearing the same trainers! Also running kit is expensive, so just have to stick to cheap t-shirts.

spoken by someone who isn't even living here yet. Wait until you have to shop for yourself and kids year round and you will find out quite quickly that the quality of clothing (unless you spend a stack) is pretty poor. Nothing wrong with hankering for stuff from back home, I regularly send parcels of cherry ripes and twisties to my friend in Peterborough.

Re: Next Clothes

Wow - another Next thread and so soon...lol

Next = quality....nope. Next = uniformity. You can see every bugger and thier friend wearing Next a mile off. You can tell poms getting off the plane wearing Next from head to foot a mile away.

We had friends staying with us and we had to giggle as they must have bought everything from Next. We were going to have a sweapstake on how many number and flag patches were sewn on the combined wardrobe.

Dont get hung up on a single brand which we dont have here. There are heaps of decent clothes shops and a lot you wont ever find in the UK. But as a previous poster pointed out the suns going to destroy them anyhow over time and nobody gives a crap what you look like anyway. At least you wont be looking like everyone else.....

So an internet search. There are 527 entries under kids clothes shops in Perth. I reckon that has to offer perhaps some variety despite the fact it is Perth :p
