Newly qualified British midwives
Hi, I'm new here so just finding my way around. Just wondering if any newly qualified British (direct entry / non nurses) have had the opportunity to find work in Australia and how you started the whole process. I'm currently on maternity leave from year 3, going back in June. My husband is an accounts manager but says his qualification isn't acknowledged out there. We have 5 children age 10 weeks, 2, 6, 9 and 17 and would like to give them a life where we can enjoy more out door time as a family. We have been dreaming a long time but life has kept us busy and I need to finish my midwifery training! Thanks for any advice x

jot sure what the current situation is with Midwives as far as registration goes, especially if you are newly qualified, but we do have some people who drop into the Nursing forum here -
Nurses, Doctors, and other Medical/Healthcare occupations - British Expats with info some have a look through there. I know there have been discussions about supervised work but as I say I'm not sure of the current requirements. AHPRA -thats the registration body -don't make life simple, thats for sure!

How old will your eldest be when you qualify and have the required experience?

OP - you will find that if you kids are indoor kids they will remain indoor kids, most kids here spend time indoors because of the weather just as much, if not more than, in the UK. Not saying it to put you off at all, just be aware that Australia has weather too

So they prefer to bring their children to Australia and fry them in the sunshine

Going outside here makes you a likely candidate for abduction by aliens.
