Mandurah have a foreshore celebration with two sets of fireworks but I guess that's a bit far for you to travel.

Hiya, we're off to the Zoo on New Years Eve, not been before but comes highly recommended.
Gates open about 5.00, sounds like typical Perth bring a picnic thing. Family entertainment, with the countdown and fireworks at 9pm for the littleones.
More details on Bocs website.

Thanks for the link ohippy!
This one might be even better, a round up of all the slightly bigger new years eve events (though the same ones as in the event calendar, just about).

Yeah, the Perth Zoo and the Mandurah ones sound the best for kids. There should be some smaller events around the place too, check out your local council site.
Gloucester Park also has fireworks, but it's probably not that suitable for younger kids...
And the Greyhounds in Cannington also has fireworks....
So yeah, there's not that much on really, not in the way of fireworks (lots of good gigs though, for people into bands, and the clubs will have good nights too)
Biggest event is the Perth Cup on New Years Eve (not really for families though) and then the Australia Day skyworks/fireworks, which they've already started advertising now!

Perth Cup is New Years Day not Eve.
I saw that advert the other day for Skyworks - we were like blimey there actually advertising something well in advance for a change.
Normally its something like, "Australia's biggest Bike Ride - get you entry in now" and its in like 3 days time....

Yes, it's funny the advertising. And there's so many events that people aren't even aware of half the time! Even something like Noel Gallagher performing, people on found out afterwards, or when tickets were sold out after 15 minutes! (though that was only announced two weeks before the show anyway).

I knew about Noel G and got tickets before general release, he was superb, just a shame he didnt go on for another couple of hours... I thought he was much better than Robbie & Kylie.

You could stay in and watch on tv but I would not recommend it. We were at a friends bbq last year and they showed the Sydney broadcast on tv. At 12 o'clock they went to an advert break with a screen saying happy new year and that was it. We spent around 30 minutes watching the tv and asking each other whether that was it before we gave up and went home (or drank half a bottle of gin in two cases!)

Well, you can see on the 'tickets for sale' page of my web that that's certainly not true!
Though it's a bit random which ones sell out and which don't! I was quite surprised to see Pink sell out 3 shows within a week!!

couldn't agree more, I was at all three too, and thought Noel blew the others out of the water by a mile. Didn't think much of his support 'act' though!!

It was a long (Hot) day after being at the WACA and then going straight to the Gig.
Cool venue too, seen a few things there and think its great (shame you cant take booze to your seats with you)
Id much rather have 10nights to choose from there than 1 at a bigger venue.
