Default New things to do, 2 hours of brisbane.

The long weekends are upon us again, kids school has 5 this term.

We have done every must do 100 times ZZZZ I really am about to go mad with so many long weekends to fill and the same old ideas. There is a limit to driving times, say 2 hours, 3 if the idea is brilliant, place really worth seeing.

Kids are teens, of course all the Gold coast parks have been done to death!!

I will tell you how bored we are I even considered using up frequent flyer points to go to ayers rock for a weekend, but 144,000 points.

Weekend in sydney is another one we have done over and over.

HELP

BTW if anyone suggests a BBQ I will cyber kill them

Head down to Northern NSW - stay in Byron Bay or somewhere nice and just go driving and exploring.

(By the way, it's Uluru.)

I think it's mainly people that haven't been to school in Australia in the last 30 years that still call it Ayers Rock.

go to steiglitz, hire a boat or 2, and take a trip through the south moreton bay islands to jumpinpin... do a bit of fishing, or just anchor on the beach and explore the northern tip of S straddie or try and find the spanish galleon on N straddie.

Have heard that off a few people.

Sand driving Bribie Island and BBQ far left side (less congested then Fraser and no ferry needed) or ' A ' Break roller coaster 4 x 4 drive near Mt. Mee.

How about saving some petrol and enjoying some quality family time at home?

Unless you hate each other's guts and need a distraction from the sheer soul-crushing mundanity of home life ...

Must be hell being that easily 'bored'.

Genuine question. You're kids are teenagers, and you are still expected to entertain them?

When I was 13 I just got up in the morning and went round to friends houses and we entertained ourselves. Came home again in the evening for dinner.

Are we supposed to keep kids amused until they're 18 now?

Wondering the same thing. Mine are 15 and 17 and me and him are rarely involved in what they have planned unless they decide to grace us with their presence.

I can only think of two long weekends this term; ANZAC and Labour Day. What else is there?
