Re: New to Sydney
I assume from your ID that you are a Man City fan?
Have you gone down to Cheers on George St to watch the City games yet?

Watching games with fellow fans is one good way of making some friends. I've done it with Spurs fans at the Triple Ace Bar - sorry I can't invite you down there next weekend (hopefully not for another Manchester lesson either.)
I noticed, on Pomsinoz - the 'other' site that there's a group of mostly newly arrived couples meeting this Sat at Harts Hotel in The Rocks. They all sound like they are in same boat.
I went into North Bondi RSL on Sunday night, first time in my life, and it looked a pretty cool place, lots of young people. Quiz night tonight, live band Fridays.
Some people mock the RSL/Leagues/Bowling etc club but I reckon they are a good places to join. Start going along for quiz nights, meat raffles, etc, get talking to people.

As for football, Cheers can be good but also consider the Casino in Darling Harbour, massive screen and good food. I will also second Saveme's comments about RSL's, a bit different to UK clubs but worth joining for cheap local beers and food and can be fun.....just keep away from the Pokie machines!

Scot, every week they are at different locations, that way you will get to know all the different cool bars in town. They are usually posted on wednesday in the Meets Ups section.

Re: New to Sydney
Hi I've just arrived in Sydney. I'm living not far from Randwick in Rosebery. Originally from Bury just outside Manchester (Bury fan....someone has to ) and looking to catch up with the expats this Thursday for CBD drinks. Helen (26)
