Originally posted by badri Well I heard that this is just a proposal to speed up the process for applicants from july. I will keep my fingers crossed and stay with the same schedule as mentioned in the acknowledgement. I do hope that they process things quicker. Cheers I really hope you hear soon I know how frustrating this all is, why don't you get your medicals and police checks done now and send them off if you are in the position of being able to go quickly? Its a gamble but this whole visa thing is a gamble, good luck in whatever you decide. :) |
Front-loading is a gamble. . . The only time you will cut out is the waiting period to get the meds & PCCs done, sent off and the waiting to lodge the bond. In all you will still have to wait for an average of between time of 6-12 months. At present they are coming back in about 6 months but some sooner at about 4 months from lodgement. Don't worry...Not saying don't do it!...it's great if you can( we couldn't) but just beware!! |

Originally posted by seang but us clever folk who applied before the 1st of July fall under the old rules .......and wait Glad I dont play the stock market :( So where exactly does this leave us :( :( As I said on this post:http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...53#post1485653 our medicals will be there before the application ( which includes PCC's) is sent back. Do we wait and send after 1st July or what, it just gets more and more confusing    |

Based on the new proposed procedure, after you submit tha application they will go through the papers and check whether everything is in place then along with the acknowledgement they will requst for meds. Due to this reason they are suggesting to front load meds and pcc along with the application. If the papers are not in place or due some reason things goes wrong you will be asked to do the meds and pcc again that gonna be expensive. On the other hand if htings goes fine you will be left will very little time before you validate the visa. This process is good for people who are all set and ready to go to Aus within short notice. That's all i can concur from the message of George and others. Good luck As far as myself I will rely on my agent advice so its just wait and see:rolleyes: |
Hiya
I noticed that a few people have mentioned bonds! We got our extra 5 points through saying we would invest $100 000, basically this is what happened to us: Visited Sandown Park March 2003 (Immigration exhibition - Totally buzzed up wanted to leave that day!!!) Spent 3 months looking for an agent Found the Agent in June 2003 Got the TRA through - Filled all those forms in Visa 136 Indendent skilled received by Adelaide on the 18th September 2003. Received reply in November 2003 Heard nothing for ages Visited OZ for 2 weeks in April (bloody cold!) did a rekkie cos we weren't sure where we wanted to settle, so did Perth (3 days in car looking around suburbs - North and South of City) Loved Mandurah, Rockingham and would like to look a little further south. Did I mention we didn't take kids so was suffering quite badly from child deprivation, weird yes! but very painful! Went on to Adelaide (2 days in car, looking around suburbs), Melbourne (1 day in car looking around suburbs - we were bored now) and Sydney ( I would just add that we were very unfortunate and stayed in the red light district in Melbourne and Sydney) so that was an experience to say the least. Came home totally confused, bewildered and emotional - so much so that I couldn't really talk about it, but we did get over it and still want to go. Low and behold the last thing I wanted to see on my doormat when on got home was a request for the Meds and Police checks, but hey ho they were there, so got on and had those on the 26 May - Doctor must have thought my kids were sadists as they all wanted blood taking! Police checks about three weeks all in all sent them off last week - Meds should be with Adelaide now. Agent will shortly be sending us something through about lodging bond but this is where we are bit confused now really, because where do we go from there - Agent is good but we'd like to be one step ahead. We've just had the house valued to put on market, and luckily a family living in the same street and renting so could be possible buyers, but I just can't believe that all the timescales are going to meet at the end of the road all on the same day - if you know what I mean. Anyway, anyone that knows what will happen from hear please share with us. Many thanks Sam and Paul  |
Sorry guys
I am still slightly confused with the front loading thing. Does this mean that if you send all information Police/Meds with intial application you would be looking for the PR to be sent back before 1 year. As you only have 1 year for all docs to be used? So if for example you recieve your visa 9months, you have 3 months to validate it? That is a gamble. Do you think the Government would confirm a duration for the new PR? Like say 6 months. Personally I can leave at pretty short notice but this is tough for others. I would prob. prefer to spend 1 year here & then leave, for work reasons. ps= Am looking to relocate in Sydney as was based there before & enjoyed my time there. Did travel through Queensland, some brilliant places. Though Sufers Paradise wasent my thing. (Only my opinion). |

So if for example you recieve your visa 9months, you have 3 months to validate it? That is a gamble. Get it all together and send it in. The time will start from the date of the first check you had done which is obviously going to be sometime before you actually sent in the application. Count one (1) year from then and that's the deadline. If you don't get your visa by then or find you can't get to Oz by then, which will be your dealine if your visa is granted, then you will have to get the checks done again to make sure everything is still ok with you and that you haven't got in to trouble or carrying anything deadly! You can get the deadline extended but only for those checks to be done so that it validates the PR visa. You then have to enter Oz so that the visa can be stamped VALIDATED! You can then come and go as you please for up to 5 years from that date of entry! After that to get back into Oz you will need to apply for a Residents Return Visa...bother you don't need...so get that Ozzie passport after 2 years and you'll be right! Is this any clearer now???:D Do you think the Government would confirm a duration for the new PR? Like say 6 months. Personally I can leave at pretty short notice but this is tough for others. I would prob. prefer to spend 1 year here & then leave, for work reasons. Why not just go over there for a visit to do a reccie, have a holiday and validate the PR visa at the same time. You will then have up to 5 years to say goodbye to everyone...!!!:) Dave:cool: |
Originally posted by Dreamaway 10 Hi there Sam and Paul firstly I have to say going to Oz on a rekkie without the kids is a brilliant idea.We have a 20month old who is going to make things on the plane extremly hard and not at all fair on her.Wish we could get someone to look after ours if only for a really short time.We are confused as probably going to go to Mandurah as we have second cousins there but would also like to visit Queensland I think from what people have told us there maybe more chance of work.Probably will go to Perth though. We are having to put up the $100000 but not that far down the line, have been acknowledged 3 weeks ago and our agent has told us we will not hear anything now until the end of the year. Have you decided yet where you want to go what did you think to Perth particuarly Mandurah? Good luck sorthing out the bond thing from what I can see from other posts its not that complicated. Cheers Dreamaway also confused and we haven't even been yet. We actually started in Rockingham and aimed to go and see someone from this site 'Whisky' they own a lovely bistro called the 'stones throw' we met up with Tony and Sue and they were so kind, we went back to their house in Mandurah (Halls Head) and very kindly fed us and then drove us around. So I think we will head that way and then spend our own time looking around for the right place after that. Just recently I've been looking on the Real Estate website, Elders, and Ray White in Rockingham and found some lovely houses, all with schools close by which does seem to be the norm. Places like Meadow Springs, Seascapes and Erskine all sound lovely places, but not living there you don't really know. So anyone out there that does live there, or has first hand knowledge of those areas please advise. I realise it's your opinion, but that's better than nothing. Sam and Paul |
Sam and Paul Mandurah Halls Head is where my second cousins live it sounds really nice but have not been so not sure.
Good luck finding the right areas to live if you find out any more info regarding these areas I would be grateful if you could let me know as we are in a similar position.Have you looked at the new development at Port Bouvard it looks fantastic had a friend who went this year and said they are doing loads of buliding work, looks like a really nice development.the website is www.portbouvardltd.com.au Cheers Dreamaway:beer: : |
