Hi
We've recently moved to Mount Martha from the Gold Coast, a bit of a shock to the system at this time of year but hey-ho!
Our boxes are unpacked, the kids are in school, (2 girls 12 and 15yrs) at Bentons Road and Mornington High schools and they are loving it, now us adults are needing to build a social network
we're looking like a pair of Billy-no-mates at the moment!
Is there anyone out there who like a meet up?

Hi there
Welcome to Mt Martha! You've been lucky to move down this year as we've had a much better winter than normal!
Glad to hear you are settling in. If you hop on to the Britvics forum there was talk of having a local meet soon.
I'm not sure how many BE'ers there are around in this area to organise something?
I'd be happy to meet up with you but for the next few weeks I'm flat out with work but hopefully there might be a social event soon!
If you need to know where anything is or where to get things just shout.
KK

Thanks so much for replying, I went onto Britvics but couldn't see anything listed, so I'll try again tonight. Popped into Mornington market today and was quite impressed, I dragged my eldest round with me, she needed some fresh air (she's off sick with a cold, but back to school tomorrow!), it gets really busy doesn't it? We thought we might have a look round Flinders at the weekend too
we're definitely finding lots to do and see but my youngest still loves the strawberry farm the most.

Hi Kiz
There is a thread in general discussion called meet up soon, so keep an eye on that or once it's decided it will be pinned at the top.
Wednesday is market day so it does get busier but on a sunny day Mornington is usually pretty busy.
Flinders is lovely, small but nice village feel to it. There are two beaches the one by the pier and then if you drive round through the golf course (really!) then you come to the ocean beach. Have you been down to Sorrento yet, that's my fav!
I've still not been to the strawberry farm yet so you've done something I've not!

Strawberry Ridge is lovely, we went on Sunday and thought it would be mental but we timed it right, we got there about 1.15pm when everyone else was in the wineries/bristros having lunch
. Their flourless chocolate cake is good but heavy going - you will have to share!
We'll probably visit Flinders this weekend if the weather holds.

Hi - we live in Safety Beach, a few minutes away from you. We have 2 kids but they are 1 and 5, so our social life (also non existent!) tends to revolve around kid-friendly stuff!
But would love to meet up with more people, and our friends who have an 8 year old are about to move to Mt Martha too so there will be a few more people!
Have got my dad and sister coming over in a few weeks so have been doing a bit of sightseeing to suss out where to take them. on a sunny day, Point Nepean National Park is really pretty and Sorrento on the way through is really nice.

Hi Rachel
We 'attempted' the Point Nepean park, but took the dog in the car thinking it might be pooch friendly, so we've yet to have a walk round it, we drove through Sorrento but didn't stop that time.
I'd quite like to try one of these cellar door things but haven't a clue what its all about and how they work, dont want to walk in there and look a complete fool. I know which wines I like and can identify 'gooseberry' in the taste but as for tasting flint or soil??? Bit beyond me and my peasant tastebuds

G'day, we are newbies to the Peninsula been here for 3 months now still need to meet folks. We are from Sheffield, still getting used to Ozzy life, found it difficult at times but feeling better now.

Thanks, I've seen it and marked the calendar
I do the sales on BWS too, but theres something that appeals about sitting on a deck, glass in hand gazing over the vinyards towards the sea....

Aggh i know what you mean about the dog thing - really annoying having so many opportunities for dog walks but so much of it is national park.

Cellar Door just go in and have a look around, the people at the bar ask you what you would like to try, then give you tastes of wine which you can swallow if you are not driving or spit out in the thingy if you are.
Usually have a restaurant and you can get meals can be pricey at some but others have nice surroundings where you can sit around outside
Barmah Park Winery on the Moorooduc Road is nice for lunch and not too pricey. Stoniers is right next to the Merricks General Store which is a restaurant now and does nice lunches etc.
The owners of Tulsi Indian Restaurant in Somerville have a winery and its open for lunch as well. Wyldcroft Estate.

Hi Petals, that sounds almost too easy... I'm a bit worried that I will show myself to be a peasant when I have no clue about wine (just what I like and tend to stick to), maybe I'll make my OH go in first!
. I'm def going to write these places down tho and an Indian with a vinyard sounds really interesting!
Thanks!
