Thumbs up New Migrant Subsidy

Hi,

I would like to seek help for input if anyone of you have to know about the subsidy claim from government.

We are 3 members family (myself, my hubby and our daughter) and going to migration there on beginning of May. Out of 3 of us, only my husband is working (he already got the job and working there) and we two will be go and join him.

I would like to know, for this condition, how much can I claim and where can I look for that info.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Grace

as a new migrant (on PR visa) there is a waiting period of two years to calim most of the benefits and Centerlink is the focal point but there are some exceptions to this like if someone have childern then may be able to claim tax benefits (From family assistance office) please google family assistance office website and all information is available there.

No subsidy - you are expected to be able to support yourself. If you can't, you shouldn't be moving here.

Have to agree with Amazulu - in regards to any country not just Australia.

Op you are not talking about the Living Away From Home Allowance you? This can't be claimed if you have a PR visa. If you are on a 457 then is is claimed through the employer - someone please jump in if I've got the arse end of this.

Anyone who is living away from home in the course of their work can claim LAFHA, including Aus PRs and citizens.

Only if they are living away from home temporarily for work with the intention of going back to their usual home. Not if they are moving to settle somewhere else.

OP, you can claim for Family Assistance Benefit parts A and B but they are means tested so what you get will depend on your household income.

You can also claim the Child Care Benefit and Rebate. CCB is also means-tested. CCR is not means-tested but both parents must be working, studying or looking for work.

Go to http://www.familyassist.gov.au/ for more information.

I think there is also rent assistance, again means-tested.

You can't claim any unemployment benefit for 2 years and as others have said, you should not rely on benefits anyway to come and live here.

The government will also lob money at you straight off the plane if you decide to buy a house or you have a baby. Thousands & thousands of dollars in fact.

Nah, the baby thing is means-tested now you know. It's made all the Hawthorn yummy mummies very sad to have to pay for their own Bugaboo prams at $1,600 a pop!
