There are quite a few active groups on meetup.com in Brisbane. Groups of people just sign up to go along to random social events. I found it to be a good way to meet a few friendly people to go out for food / drinks with.

Haha yeah I like a drink now and again, although not done much of it since I got here . Im also pretty keen on running, going hiking and stuff everyone enjoys like going to the movies, watching sport, going out for food etc. Next time your down get in touch and we can go for a beer or something.
