Well our removal company (Crown) have been with us all day today, all gone very smoothly but am now exhausted and aching all over. Think I need a holiday
They are back at 8:30 in the morning and the container is due at 1ish, hand keys to our home over on Wednesday, then will officially be HOMELESS

Hi Jayne,

We are both also feeling the aches after a day with the shippers!!!!

We busted our asses yesterday to try and get everything in a fairly good order, today seems a lot more relaxed. The shippers (Whites) seem really good and friendly. Our container also arrives tomorrow at 1.00pm, so Derby will be inundated with 20ft containers ready to pack our lives into!

We hope that your move goes well and everything works out smoothly, we hand our house over on Thursday (fingers crossed - exchange and complete on the same day) so we will try to catch up with you after the mayhem has finished!!!

Cheers

Hooch & Lol.

Hi Hooch & Lol,
We had all good intentions of getting most of the work done over the weekend but people kept coming to see us, understandable I suppose 'cos they know we are going soon.... just meant we weren't as prepared this morning as we had hoped to be
Have you taken out insurance with Whites? Crown want 3% of the value which we think is a bit steep! What do Whites charge?
I hope your move goes smoothly too. We exchanged contracts last week and complete this wednesday.... Will be ready for a few beers by the weekend so let us know when you are free and we'll get together.

Phew, we are glad someone is as badly organised as we are

We had friends (A friend from when Christian used to be in the Royal Navy) staying on Friday night and then our leaving party on Saturday night so we only had Sunday to get things sorted out - however I must confess that we have both been off work for a couple of weeks, so we have no excuse to not be prepared - it just kinda sneaks up us and then takes us by surprise!!

We are looking forward to the weekend, just to be able to get the majority of stuff behind us and just the flight ahead.

Now that we are all going to be homeless and living out of bags - maybe we should sit in the town centre in sleeping bags getting drunk and shouting at passers by!!!!

See you all soon

Christian & Loren

P.S. We didnt expect a reply back from you soooooo late yesterday, we were both fast asleep by then.

I didn't realise the time, was sat chatting and sipping on some wine, wondered why I couldn't keep my eyes open

Have fun today, come 1 o'clock we'll both be waving our worldly possessions away on the back of a lorry

Let the fun begin. Best of luck been 6 months since we were on matresses on the lounge floor with a little portable tv seems a lifetime ago, it's bloody knackering isn't it but sooooooooo worth it. jodi.

How much can you get in a 20ft container approx? Just a rough idea would be of tremendous help, then we can decide whether to take everything or just most of it.

Good luck with the move.

Hi Gillian,

Just got back online after the shippers cleared the living room!

We have fitted the contents of our 3 bed house into the 20ft container, however we have only taken a double bed (we have given the others away since there are only the two of us), but I have taken a garage full of tools instead. Looking at the container we could have shipped the two extra beds since there is a heck of a lot of space left.

I guess we looked at all of our stuff and didn't consider the fact that once it is packed into uniform sized boxes it will fit into a small space - we did flat pack anything that could be taken apart (and hopefully re-assembled!).

You might get a different answer from Mrsdevillishdean, they have three people to pack for!

Good luck

Hooch & Lol (very soon to be homeless)
