We are finding nappies far more expensive that they were in the UK partly due to living in a rural location (250 miles from Perth) and with 2 children in them it is costing us a fortune, we have tried pea-pod reusable nappies but they leak and the waterproof lining is coming away from the outer layer. Has anyone used any other types that they could recommend, we have a 9 month and 2 year old

That's not rural - that's just down the road. 2,500 miles is rural in this country!

Just use cloth nappies

We used cloth for both of our kids. They wash up really well and hanging on the line in the sunshine dries them quickly. Besides, cloth has to be way more comfy than a wad of paper and platic.

There are loads recommended in the UK. May be if you don't find anything suitable in Oz you could ask someone to send a sample pack from the UK out to you?

Have a look on the bubhub forum. Plenty of recommendations for various cloth nappy types. I used Kushies on my daughter (brought over with us from the UK though).

Yes, its costly in nappies.
I got my toddler off Nappies as quick as I could. For me it was worse as I came to Rural WA via another country that was way cheaper than the UK.
So got a bit more of a shock, but just bought the wiggles disposables and got her toilet trained asap.

Before I left for Australia I went to Tesco in the UK and made a complete show of myself insisting babywipes were wrong price on my receipt. I was rather embarresed when they came back to information counter saying they were correct price. So would I rather have the ones on special as I looked so shocked. A rather embarressed me, mumbled about not living in UK for a couple of years and ran

My choices:

Woolworths select - easily the best
Huggies - sometimes get crystals on their bums in size approx 8kilos
Woolworths black and gold ones

I dont like any of the others really especially snugglers but I could live with the ones with the baby face on them that are supposed to be environmentally friendly

I have tried every type multiple times and really dislike most. I actually shop in coles but go to woolworths just for nappies

We've just had our third child and I'm going through the same thoughts as original poster. I prefer Pampers to all of the ones over here but obviously they don't sell them here.

With my middle child we used Huggies and then toilet trained him as early as possible. During the day he was 2 but only was 3 before dry at night. The Woolworths didn't seem to hold enough wee at night for him.

As for our newborn. I bought Huggies to start with but was getting the crystals so I've just bought the Woolworths Select and they seem ok in infant sizes.

Due to cost I am thinking of going cloth though.

We've been using Aldi nappies for the last 4 months (our kid now 6 months)
Never had a single dud or a problem in that time.
Not a single case of nappy rash with them.
Not suitable for newborns but a real winner once you are past that stage.

Works out about 34 cents per nappy (approx the same unit price as the Woolworths Select brand I think ?)
As they are so absorbent, we are only using about 5 or 6 each day.
Thats about 12 bucks a week. Not exactly budget breaking.
Its only 1 bottle of plonk or a pack of smokes less to cover it after all.

I used AIO (all in ones) and pockets nappies.

Brands that are pretty good are Bumgenius, and wonderoos, fuzibunz are a NZ brand which are sposed to be good.

The pocket ones are basically JUST like a nappy and can be washed at 40 degrees and dry in about half an hour, I added an extra wedge of cloth in the pocket (these are basically a pad) for night time. Sooo much cheaper than buying all the time...

I have used Aldi ones but in the UK and they are really good
