My wife is driving me mad!
My wife is driving me up the bloody wall. She wants to emigrate to OZ while I'm really not so sure. We went there last year with our two young children - Melbourne, Sidney, Gold Coast and Cairnes - and I must admit I thought it was fantastic. I'm not so sure that I could live there, though; usual things - family and the uncertainty of moving. My wife is certain, though. She fell in love with OZ, especially Coolangatta on the Gold Coast (did I spell it correctly?). She is desperate to go, but then she loves the sun and warm weather, I prefer a more seasonal climate. we have done our research. We went to that Emigration show at Sandown Park and spoke to some people on the stands there. What they told us seemed to be quite promising. Bloody awful day there, though. I though they were going to reinact the final battle scene from the Lord of the Rings in the car park at one stage! I'd miss the UK. What it was - not what it has become. Tony Blair has ruined it with his compensation mentality, European laws and big brother is watching you attitude. I'd still miss it, though. My wife sure as hell wouldn't! Oh well, that's my moan for the night over with...sorry out there.

Do you think anitopean laws are that much better? Here we have John Howard who is like a short inept version of John Major and each state has its own version of Tony Blair. That means 6 times the number of inept leaders who are far more childish.
Think of Oz as an opportunity to give something a go. A risk but worth a try.
The predicted demise of the UK has been around since the French invaded in 1066 and still has not happened.

Ditto here Jack,
I'm desperate to go (to Oz) - got NZ passport - could go any day but the missus is unsure - same reasons as Joskin. But when we are over there like over xmas she loves it. Joskin - I reckon you gotta give it a try even for a short while - you can always come back. She will end up with resentment if you don't try I'd think. we are fast approaching make or break stage ourselves - so best of luck to you both - I fear I'm in for a rocky ride.

My missus wasn't too sure to begin with (family reasons again) but we had a good chat about it, looked up some stuff on the web (including this forum) and thought f**k it! If we don't at least give it a go we might just live to regret it when we're old and grey.
What's the worst that could happen? So it doesn't suit you after a year? Come back to blighty and start again.

Having to apply to Australian Computer Society for Recognition of Prior Learning, meaning I've got thousands of words of complete sh..... rubbish to write. Should be finished tomorrow.
Applied to Victoria for STNI (looks promising!) but otherwise a long way from Oz in every sense.
Desperately need

Did you opt for the initial decision in principle
Plus I 'm waiting for more info on the Skilled Independant Regional visa - the fabled Bush Visa, which is due in July.
Hedging lots of bets at the moment, just in case.
First hurdle is ACS. I have some doubts about it because of experience - as in whether they will see my last job as valid or not. If that's the case, then I'll have to wait until November anyway.
Ideally, if all goes to plan I'll be out there this time next year.

No, we have just started the process. As there seemed to be a few options our agent suggested we could apply for an indication initially, then submit. I think this takes slightly longer but at least it would allow us to ascertain the likelihood of acceptance. What's your specialism (or is that too nosey?) Fingers crossed - for both of us!
