Default My PR story - a lesson for us all

i`ll do this briefly to cut to the chase

had been living in sydney for 4 yrs on a 457 and wanted to try for PR, not on the points system but highly skilled - but as im a travel agent, that wasn`t on the list - but thought i would try anyway
went to a solicitor who offered a 3 tier system which was $5500, $7500 or $10K and on top of that was the actual fees
....i summed it all up, and decided to do it myself, state my case as well as they do and see how we go...got PR 4 wks later, no questions asked - just a straight old "enjoy your life in australia" letter...

proved my point that not all solicitors are needed...he actually said, and i quote, "this will be a high-risk application"....

An old solicitor joke - 'Hello Mr Smith' (that'll be £10/$24), 'do come in' (that'll be £20/$48), 'have a seat' (that'll be £30/$72), 'how are you?' (that'll be £40/$96), 'now, what can I do for you?' (that'll be £100/$240)..... 15 minutes later (£1,000/$2,400).

Seriously, there will be some circumstances and some people who will be able to D.I.Y, there will be other circumstances and other people who will need to pay for professional advice. The moral of this story should not be D.I.Y all the time. As I'm sure Alan et al will remind us.
