We have different tastes in apples though I prefer UK apples.

I need to follow you to these places as i'm still not finding them!
As for apples, I much prefer what I've found.
Speak soon,

What a FANTASTIC post!
Really enjoyed reading it - great to read such a positive message even though you have probably just begun the biggest challenge of your lifes!
Congratulations on finding a job after new CV written, no fussing about, interviews, job offer, start work within a few days - fab!
Didn't like your bit about SPIDERS and BUGS - our biggest worry as we hate them too!!
Your story so far is so heart warming I almost cried (more than once) reading it - sad person I know!
Please keep posting
Best of luck with your new life in Australia

I think I read the post almost couple of times It made me go and resounded my decision that you should go for it.
As all the others Myself and Mywife we don't have much in cash except brains and determination.
I think I will keep reading yours to keep me on the go...
It was also nice to hear from others that they are also taking a big step with less cash.
Thanks for the post.

What a great little story, it made my hairs stand on end! My husband and I are planning on moving to Sydney next month on a 457 visa - my husband has managed to secure a job already which takes a bit of the pressure off. We are also from Glasgow and feel so fed up with the weather, petrol costs, drunk Glaswegians and the general doom and gloom - (know what you mean about Braehead)! We have the same reservations - missing family and friends, selling our home (and will probably never be able to afford to get back into the property market in the UK if things dont work out in Oz) and just the general fear of the unknown. Anyway I hope we have half as much luck as you and your family. All the best.

What a lovely, honest and informative post, it was really useful as we are hoping to come over that way later this year, well earlier rather than later!
our reasons for wanting to leave the uk are very similar to yours regarding our daughters future so i will keep this post to show her
Thanks again for sharing your 'ups & downs' with us here and may we wish you the very very best for your futures
with kind regards

Wcee Wow what a fabulous post.!
You have certaintly earned my respect.
Good on you, glad you have got a job, probably the most important thing of all and is very interesting to hear about your UK Cv just not having enough detail(just like TRA skills assessment I reckon).I have heard about this before and makes me wonder if it will be worth getting the Cv professionally
done before coming out.
Hope your kids are happy and settle into school Okay and I wish you and your family all the best of luck for your new future downunder. You have given hope to us all.

Just a quick note about the CV's. My sister in law struggled when she first arrived in Oz in 1998 for about 12 months, never getting interviews although in the UK her CV was excellent. She eventually went to the Migrant Resource Centre who helped format her CV to the Ozzy way and she has never looked back. Another address to look up when we get there!
