Hi Perthites
I'm coming to Perth for a few days in a couple of weeks with my 10 year old daughter for the national Diving Championships. We have a couple of days when she is not competing......so I was wondering if there are any things we 'should' do. Looking for fun things - not theme parks though - that a 10 year old would enjoy. Thanks Rudi x http://www.experienceperth.com/en/Fr...nd/default.htm. You hire them from a tiny office close to the Rottnest ferry terminal. Mark |

Re: MUST do's in Perth
Reading this thread makes you realise how little there is is to do in Perth, considering that it's a major city with a population of over 1 mill.
But hey, it is quite often sunny. |
Re: MUST do's in Perth
you cant miss
http://www.cohunu.com.au/info.html a wildlife park where you have the opportunity to hold a koala and get up real close with the aussie wildlife and Tumblegum Farm (southwest highway?) cant find a link for you but great for kids - aboriginal demos, whip cracking, damper eating, sheep shearing etc We also enjoyed the reptile centre where the staff were very informative and welcoming and we got the opportunity to hold snakes and lizards (thats if you like the hands on stuff) http://www.about-australia.com/trave...eptile-centre/ though cant explain why it does not appeal to anyone over 35 Our visit was 2002 and 2003 now so hopefully these places still do still do the things they did to us - we have had memorable holidays there and hope it is the same for you. Apologies if the links are a bit naff, but I am doing it rather rushed as I am packing 'cause after 2 1/2 years our visas are through. our house is sold and we are off to revisit all of these wonderful places next month - but as residents! bon voyage Sam |
Re: MUST do's in Perth
Take the family on the boat from perth to freo and onto rottnest island and from there hire bikes and spend the day cycling round rottnest. Take the camera and take pictures of quokkas (cute little furballs) thenafter you have finished cycling graba weird pink blue and green icecream from the icecream shop really strange icecream and yummy. Get back on boat and head back to perth stopping off at luckyshag pub at marina for a pint and some potato wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli. Walk it off by taking a stroll up the swanny.

But hey, it is quite often sunny. So far as Rotto goes - I was really disappointed on our one trip there. We went from Hillarys and it was very expensive and very busy so we only got about 5 hours on the island before we got the last available ferry back. There isn't much to do there - ride a cycle, go snorkelling and that is about it (for the whingers who complain there is nothing to do in Perth but go to the beach it would be horrible:p ). There is one pub (waited an hour for a meal before giving up; couldn't get a seat), one cafe and a dozen or so shops / takeaways in the main settlement. To do it justice you would need to go for a few days and have all the gear you need lined up rather than standing in long queues to collect it. |
Re: MUST do's in Perth
