Question Mulgrave and surrounding areas

Hi,
I am due to come to Melbourne on the 17th August to start work on the 23rd August 04 in Mulgrave SE Melbourne. Does any one know of any cheap, but clean hotels / motels/guest houses where I could stay for a couple of weeks whilst Im looking for a house. It must be ok!!

Does anyone know or heard of the following hotels and what are they like ?

Lamplighter Motor Inn
1440 Dandenong Road
Oakleigh, VIC 3166

or

Absolutely Fabulous Motel
1362 Dandenong Road
Oakleigh VIC 3166

Theyt are the cheapest I have found so far and Im looking to stay for approx 2/3 weeks whilst I get a home sorted.

Areas Im looking at are Mount and Glen Waverley / Cheltenham /Rowville or Huntingdale. Does anyone live in any of these towns and if so could you give me some details re area / schools / socialising / transport etc

My Family are due to come over in October and Im looking for a 3, 4 or 5 bedroom house. Does anyone know if you can get furnished or at least part furnished ? We will not be moving any of our furniture over for at least a few months to give us time to decide if we like it or not.

Any help or advice you can give would be most welcome. Never been to Oz b4 so Im completely in the dark and I dont know a soul or any areas! P

Many Thanks

The areas you mention are all pretty good. I live near Rowville & find it ok but a bit "bland" if you know what I mean. Theres very little to do in it. Its a fairly new estate & is basically a lot of nice houses, couple of schools & a small shopping centre.

Furnished accomodation can be hard to find although you have more chance of finding it once your here through local paper adverts etc rather than on the net.

Good luck with the move.
