Default Msg for Bussie re Tradesman Licence

Bussie I have just seen your msg re - for a sparkie you have to get a trade recognised qualification from the Tra.........

My enquiry is about a Carpenter and what licence he would require working in Adelaide. We fly out on 10 June and wondered if we can apply for the licence before we arrive in Oz?

As well as a Tax File Number which just about every migrant will need, if you intend to set up as self employed you will need to get an ABN (much like a VAT number)

I have a similar enquiry about what licence a a plumber would need to work in Victoria. We fly out in May and would also like to apply for any licence needed as soon as we can. I did have a look at the link that StanJ mentioned but it seemed to be applicable to South Australia? Any ideas much appreciated!

hi,

don't know if these are of any use -

www.workplace.gov.au/tra

www.esc.qld.gov.au

www.tradeconnect.com.au/license.htm

hubbie is a spark and we have been told that we have to wait till we are tere before applying for license. we did phone some guy ages ago he said he would get our papers sent to his office so everything would be ready for him to look at when we got there. having said that can't remember who he was or where but did get the number through one of the above sites. we are heading for brisbane so may be different for perth.

hope this may help.

pott.

Thanks for that one StanJ, I realised when I looked at it that I have seen it before but couldn't find the bit for new PR. I did this time though and emailed them about which application form would need to filled in. They were very helpful and advised us to apply for the licence before arriving, which they said won't be a problem - one more thing to tick off the ever growing list of things that need doing!
