Default moving states when on a STNI visa

Hi
Just asking out of interest. We are currently here in SA with a STNI 137 visa we have to stay for 2 years.
Has anyone on a similar visa and who is not happy but commited to the OZ lifestyle managed to change to a different state?
Any info would be grateful.

I did posting recently in the immigration about the same subject,
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=405901

Got a few answers back, which might help you, there
was also another old thread from BE member wanting to know if he can change state.
As far as I know my husband called DIMIA and state of Victoria, and they both said they have no problem if he wants to change state, but he has to check it with SA state first, which he hasn't done that yet until we are sure he's got job.

why dont you call SA office, and find out, that way you know for sure if you can do it.
That's what we are going to do once he gets job, the worse case is they say say no.

thanks for the info, thats exactly what we thought, but interesting to say that SA might stop STNI if people are moving interstate. Wishing you luck.

It's also possible that DIMA might decide to pass legislation to cancel STNI visas where people do not make a serious effort to settle in the sponsoring state.

They have already done this with RSMS.

Be careful.
