You should both be ideally suited to getting jobs here. The rail network is Connex and telecoms can be either OPTUS or Telstra to which I believe they are also looking for staff.

Areas to live in - subject to what you are lookng for really. Beaches, Trees, wineries, schools, big house little house, night life etc etc. Once you know what you want then let us know.

Here's a site specifically for those heading for Victoria

http://s7.invisionfree.com/BritVics/index.php?

There's quite a few Brits in Mornington on the Mornington Peninsula so there must be something about it that appeals to us Brit Expats. Also, Mount Eliza, South Frankston & Mt. Martha are pretty nice. They are approx 1hr away from the city but have good facilities and a feeling of space. Frankston Station is the end of the Frankston line which runs into the city. $400,000 would go alot further in this neck of the woods. Check out www.realestate.com.au for property.

I also find this site useful for working out where places are and how long the journey to them takes http://www3.visitvictoria.com/displa...047C/vvt.vhtml

As someone else has said it depends on what you are specifically looking for in an area. If schools are important, distance to the city and/or sea etc. etc.

Good luck with your adventure
Caroline

The rail and telecom industries are very unionized over here. If you get a job the pay is ok but not the best as it is usually made up via overtime.

With the railway the rates seem pretty good, even by UK standards.
