Moving to Gold Coast. Advice please.
Hi guys I'm a 28 year old female making the move from Melbourne to Broadbeach in January. I'm ditching the city for the beach. I'm a nurse and still yet to find work.
Any advise or information would be appreciated - expat meet-ups, lifestyle etc as I've only ever had a holiday in Surfers Paradise.
I'm excited!
Cheers

Broadbeach is nice but pretty touristy (which may be what you want of course). A lot depends on where your work is as the Gold Coast is bigger than lots of people imagine, and traffic can be heavy.
If I wanted to be right on the beach but could live anywhere on the GC I'd probably go for Currumbin or Main Beach, but there is something like 40km's of beach and a few dozen suburbs along it so I'd suggest a reccie!

Thanks for replies. Yes I believe Broadbeach to be quite touristy. I am originally from Scotland so other Brits might be a positive thing. I'm hoping to get work at the Goldcoast University Hospital and I think there's a tram to the door.
Is it quite easy to meet new people there? Lots to do?
Thanks

Broadbeach is quieter, less touristy, than Surfers.
The G Tram runs between the Gold Coast University Hospital and Broadbeach South stations.

Thanks for that info regarding the tram. I'm heading to Broadbeach Monday so might try a meetup site to meet new people and maybe view some apartments
