How far are you prepared to travel each day, to work ?

How much are you prepared to spend on rent ?
House or Unit ?

Do you want to be very near the city centre ?

hi check out www.ourbrisbane.com most areas are covered, i would ask the hospital if they have short term accommodation this is normally part of a relocation package, have a look at public transport (Trains/river cat ect) as you may be able to live out of the city & still have a short journey to work!

As Cal said earlier check out web site will give you some idea on suburbs etc, being a young couple you may want to be closer to the city so you have easy access to social facilities etc although properties will be a little more expensive, depends on your lifestyle, hobbies etc
Good luck

she's a paediatric nurse wiv 3 years exp, through the rcn publisher there were job opportunitys for overseas positions. my girlfriend emma went through an agenct called healthstaff who adviced for info and from this gave her an opp to be sponsored at brissy. she applied interviewed over the phone and got her position for a year which could progress to permanant. the process has been time consuming but hopefully worth it ! our visa is a 457. good luck if your wife applys happy to advice further if poss. steve

Wilston, Kelvin Grove, Herston are all nice areas very close to the RBH complex which would be handy. There is lots of accomodation in those areas as its a bit of a 'studenty' area being close to the Kelvin Grove QUT campus. Havign said that its not a cheap area. To save money you'd want to head north, but try and stay on the main bus routes - perhaps up around Chermiside would be good (great shops and facilities and LOTS of buses heading south straight past the RBH).

To be honest its going to be hard to judge until you actually get here! You need to look around and see what you like area-wise.

Keep asking questions around here - theres lots of us who've been through it all before and we're all happy to help!

That is not a huge amount (around $1300) but , for a bit more than that (say $1500) you should be able to find something reasonable......more likely an apartment though.

£ 650 or so a month......hard to say because the exchange rate is fluctuating a fair bit.....best to think in dollars.

That would probably get you a 2 bed apartment in somewhere like Toowong (where I live). 3 km from the city centre.

It would not be a penthouse for that money though.
