Moving to Brisbane with 4 & 2 yr old. Where to live???
Apologies as I'm sure this has been posted a million times before.
We are planning to relocate to Brisbane in January and have no idea where we should start looking and researching. Please help! This will be our 5th major relocation in as many years (currently in the USA but we are English) so we have a bit of experience under our belt.
We have two girls, 4 & 2 years old. We absolutely love the beach. My husband will be working in the CBD so preferably not a huge commute. Somewhere with a nice community and good schools.
Does such a place exist??
Thanks in advance.

Anywhere within the 6km radius of the Brisbane CBD should be okay. South side - South Bank, South Brisbane, East Brisbane, Woolloongabba, Hawthorne, Balmoral, Bulimba, Greenslopes, Tarragindi, Camp Hill, Seven Hills, Morningside, Coorparoo. North side - Kelvin Grove, Ashgrove, Herston, Bardon, Red Hill, Newmarket, Paddington, Bardon, Toowong.

Brisbane doesn't have any real surf Beaches at all. You really need to go to the Gold or Sunshine Coasts for that.
As for suburbs, BB's suggestion of a 6k radius is a good suggestion. It really does depend on what is important to you. Schools are a very big factor over here when it comes to choosing where to live. The Northside of Brisbane is generally more affluent and that's the side of the river the city is on. If you are looking for a nice community feel, then check out Wilston, Grange, Also Bulimba is incredibly popular with Brit expats.
Hope this helps

FYI, Redcliffe is around 45 mins - 60 mins commute depending how you do it.
Train runs from Gold Coast to Brisbane. So for example from Ormeau, northern commuter suburb of Gold Coast it is 55 mins + drive to station.
If you absolutely love the beach and have young children my pick would be Redcliffe. The beaches are just bayside beaches, so not as nice as surf beaches, but great for young kids and they have lovely foreshore kids parks, swimming pools, bike trails etc. It is a quiet place where people know each other.
It is getting a new train line with a direct train to the city built as we speak. Currently many drive over the bridge to Sandgate station and then have a 35 min train ride to the city. My friend bought a little cheap car for this purpose so his wife was left with the main car. Their children go to this school which they seem happy with (they are not catholic): http://www.sccc.qld.edu.au
The good thing about Redcliffe is that because the winters are so good you can have many lovely 20c+ plus days on the beach and foreshore right throughout the year.
