Default Moving Aus Dollars back to UK

Hi All

I have been back in the UK now for over 4 years but have kept monies in my NAB Bank Account all this time.

As you can appreciate with the Aus Dollar being better than the GB £ at the moment I locked in a deal with UK Forex last week only to see that the rate has gone up even higher today.

I have had an email from them today stating to send over funds or they will cancel the deal.

Does anybody know whether I will be charged if I do not go ahead with this please?

Any advice in this matter would be greatly appreciated thank you.

FYI, here is a chart of the changing exchange-rate. You can alter the "period" in the menu for longer times, if you want.
Long Term Charts | Free long term currency charts | Oz Forex
Oh, and here's another - an 18-months chart of prices of currencies I myself happen to follow:
Historical comparison graph for currency exchange rates since 1953

Foreign exchange is a gamble like any other, and you have to be damn lucky to hit the very top of the market every time - especially when the banks are rigging the price!

Got a UK trip coming up. A London pint now costs me $8.50 instead of $10.50.

Winner.

Every 4 pints is free

Hi Gordon

Thanks for your reply but what if you have already locked the deal in with them is there no way of backing out? Only my partner does not want to go with it and did not know if it was legally binding.

I think once its a Deal confirmed, if you back out you will pay the 'loss' anyway.

But not sure, you will have to ring them.

Bet they have been asked before now anyway.

Is Cheshire in a home county? Well any mansion counts

I have my eye on a couple of mansions down by the south coast.

Got to have a bit of sea involved.

Forest, I like woodland, not so bothered by sea.

There is some irony here - When I left the UK I was an impoverished teacher, and really couldn't afford to move and live in my native Dorset.

I've been in Australia for 10 years last week, have developed a really successful business career and - through luck rather than judgement - have managed to do really well on the Sydney house market to the point where I could now take my pick of lovely Dorset houses.

It is very very tempting...

You are almost certainly locked in. But why not just ask them, or read your soecific terms.

Where on earth are you drinking at GBP 4.91 a pint? ($8.50/1.73)?
I have NEVER paid that in London. Here? Easily!

I usually give Weatherspoons a wide berth.

Rumour has it that Mourinho has bought a "castle" in North Wales.
