Default Moving to Aus

My fioncee is Australian and I am british. We would like to go to Oz in the future to live. What chance of getting in do I stand?

I am a supervisor in a shop and my fioncee is an assistant manager - obviously she would not need to have a visa as she already lived there and holds passport.

When we marry - do I get auto citizienship? How do I prove I am worthy of living there.

And what does the process involve in terms of applying through to moving - the WHOLE process, i.e selling cars, removals etc.

What is the country like for jobs? Retail specifically. And how easy is it to get a mortgage on a new home?

What is house prices like over there?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Anthony

Anthony,

A spouse of an Australian citizen (or PR for that matter) does not automatically get Australian citizenship or permanent residence. You will have several options for you to obtain permanent residence in Australia, such as via the skilled route or the spouse route for instance.

Take a look at http://www.immi.gov.au/ for more information on spouse visas, and skilled visa as well.

I'll leave the rest of your questions to the rest of the bunch who are more capable of answering them.

Hi,

As for house prices, they won't be any more expensive than the UK,

Really, you can buy a nice house for 250k oz $,

Cheers,

Have a look at this thread:

It has lots of info about your options at the moment.

Afraid I can't help with the moving/selling-up process, I came here on a working holiday visa with 2 bags.

For jobs try www.seek.com.au

I signed my first mortgage papers on Monday. When I began looking into the whole buying procedure I was told many different things about whether I could have a mortgage and whether I could (co)own a property here. We used a broker and have gone with Westpac, they seem to offer a good package. I think the process has been pretty simple really.
