Smile most popular migrant destination

hi we are in the process of (hopefully) migrating to the brisbane area, but having visited australia on a fact finding trip we are wondering if we should maybe consider melbourne/adelaide.
we had been so set on brissy as we have family near ipswich but now we are in two minds about considering other destinations, what are the up's and down's of south australia?
any input would be nice.

What has made you guys have doubts re Brissy? We are hoping to go there in Jan 04. We looked at all the other main destinations and felt that Brisbane had the most to offer but always open to new info.

Hi!

We are off to Adelaide for one main reason - I have family there.
Also compared to other regions the house prices seem lower. On the other hand jobs in the professional sector are harder to come by. I think manual jobs are a little easier to come by but work in general isn't as easy to get as some other states.

Try contacting Mr Mover - he lives in Adealide (i think!! ) and will be in more of a position to give you the pros and cons.

Best wishes

Sally

i suppose it is just cold feet kind of thing. but this is such a big move you got to be pretty sure about what you want and where you want to go.

Melbourne - temperamental weather and too expensive housing.

Adelaide- never really thought about it. It is cheaper, but not as many prospects for us.

thanks for the replies.

i personally consider melbourne to be a more sophisticated city and also it is very neat and tidy compared to brisbane, but brissy has a more cosmipolitan younger more vibrant feel.

i think we will end up in the brissy area but you have to consider your options.

Not counting British Expats

Sydney is the most popular destination for immigrants into Aus..............why?

Hence the State Nominated etc, Perth is a brit destination and predominate on this site ...Brisbane to be?

but the majority move to Sydney.

Cheers

Agree with you...which is why I said this Expat site excluded..cause it is one part of a small movement of people. Sydney still has the biggest influx of immigrants.

Money...Jobs...housing...immigration...Sydney....o pportunity still, the rest you better work hard for?

My opinion only

Cheers

indeed a recent poll here of 100 people sydney didn't get 1 vote!

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...highlight=poll

i wonder why this is?

it would be demographically interesting to see the social, educational, qualification and -dare i say- racial breakdown of imigrants against destination...

cheers

Sorry I am going to bed soon so cannot be arsed to find demographics...Sydney is the most popular immigrant destination. Not for Uk People! But overall, they are trying to stop the flow in here, hence the STNI etc.

I did say in my statement 'Expat site excluded' - this site is not a true representation of the total immigration to Aus.

110,000 per year.....and all of them are not britisssssh?

Cheers

cheers for that, very interesting, to be honest though sydney is a non starter for us anyway so we were happy to read that we are in the majority.

Everyone in Sydney is busy working 80 hour weeks, with no time for Internet diversions.
