Default mossies

In the last 6 months of living here i have been munched on by Mosquitos and sand flies at least 500 times, I dont react too good to them have scars all up my legs and arms, I can currently not bend any of the fingers on my rights hand due to the swelling from 3 bites last night. I have tried them buzzing machines, coils and candles and every spray on the Market. Off seems to be the best but I do worry about the ammount of Deet I am wearing on a daily basis (I use 2-3 cans a week) I have citronells plants in the garden, I put tracky pants and long sleeve tops on before dusk.

Can anyone recommend anything that I have not already mentioned, preferably something that wont kill me

Thanks
Kala

Hi Kala

You poor thing, you are a bit like me. Whenever we go away I seem to attract mossies. The rest of the family don't seem to suffer.

I will be interested to see what people recommend so that I can prepare myself.

I'm interested too, we live on the edge of Romney Marsh here in Kent and I've already got nearly 20 bites over the last week and a half!

Agony.....

Havn't been bitten by a midge yet. Maybe they don't like Aussie meat. Or I'm bloody lucky?

I've heard conflicting reports, one person said no problem and the other said yes a problem.

Am hoping not tooooo bad..... I tend to get nettle rash if I get too many bites, surprised I've not got it now.

Smile Re: mossies

This is a big worry of mine too - I seem to be particularly tasty and am ALWAYS bitten.... swell up nicely too!! I worry about all the chemicals, for me and for the children too... and have 2 remedies to suggest:

Mosi-guard (Kids) - this is a natural insect repellent which is supposed to be tested for use in High risk malaria areas by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. It is made in UK by Church & Dwight UK Ltd, Folkestone Kent - I bought it through Koolsun (email [email protected]) over the internet (no, I don't work for them - am just reading all the blurb from the label!) . I haven't actually used it yet but am pinning my hopes on it - am sure/hope similar products must be available in Aus?

My husband has just had to fly back to Brisbane for a family emergency - says he has been eaten alive (teach him not to take me, they usually don't bother him as they are full after they've finished with me!) and apparently his Mum and everyone there swears by Vitamin B1.... they say eat huge amounts of it or a Vitamin B Complex and "you'll be right!".... mind you, don't know if you taste bad & so don't get bitten, or just react less.... (or maybe it is just that Vitamin B sends your Pee bright yellow and frightens the little bu**ers off!)

Any other remedies??
