Invite some newly arrived Brits round, the mozzies seem to like them the best, and concentrate on them, leaving everyone else alone. :D

If there is standing water anywhere close and you have lots of mozzies, call the council. They will send someone out to spray the whole area. They don't want dengue fever so are fairly on the ball.

It's great for any sort of bite as it draws out the irritant but also sooths and promotes healing, works very well with those blebby watery bites. Put some on a plaster and cover area and leave for at least a day. Worth having in any First Aid kit it's good for anything you want to draw stuff out of or promote healing, good for spelks to draw out or general cuts when you are away out bush somewhere.

Sounds trivial but swelling up like balloons around each bite, really itchy and painful:(. Help please on remedies to stop the itching and swelling. The over the counter stuff we got isn't helping. We use aeroguard, off (hubbie calls it ON!) and citronella candles when we sit outside but no luck. Thanks a lot, Irish Gal :o |

I've lived in Australia longer than any other country, and I am allergic to just about everything. Candles, repellent, nothing works for me. That, and when I get bitten the bites are twice the size of bites anybody else gets. Maybe some of us are just more attractive than others.:D |

Rid is far and away the best thing I've come across, both as a repellant and also to stop bites itching. Mozzies absolutely love me so I've spent most of my life hunting around for something that works!

The mossie clicker thing really is fantastic. It's also great fun when there's a crowd of you after a few drinks. Get people to try it on their teeth or any bony prominence for a good laugh!!
Somebody also recommended cloudy amonia. I haven't tried it so can't speak personally but if you're desperate it may be worth a try as they swore by it! |

Don't want to sound weird here but Mr Itigo was bitten about 10 times on the arms last Friday and the only thing that helps is me slapping the bites REALLY hard. Solves the itch and stops him scratching.

Blackmores Mega Complex B ... been taking it for a week and haven't been bitten ONCE and I am usually covered in 'em (nice image...).
I am staggered to be honest and hope it isn't just a coincidence. It does turn your wee flourescent yellow so there's entertainment to be had too. Now I can see where I'm going in the dark ... __________________ |

toothpaste on ur bites and leave it 20 mins and teh itch will stop also i have tried all those sprays to stop the mozzies and the only 1 that works 4 me is rid tropical strenth .:thumbsup:

Don't know if this has been mentioned already as haven't read the entire thread but here goes.....
Was out this afternoon, forgot bug repellent & as dusk fell, was being eaten alive. One of the people that I was out with suggested that I have a very hot shower when I got home as it would get rid of the poison. I was sceptical but tried it & bingo! No itching. Might be worth a try! |
