Mortgages NZ

Mortgages NZ
I think we have decided not sell our UK house at present but to rent it out and try NZ for a year before we commit all. Problem is we have 2 little dogs that are coming with us so I think we may have a problem with finding somewhere to rent that will take dogs. The solution is to buy somewhere in Christchurch BUT does anyone know whether it will be straight forward to get a mortgage over there when we will still have a mortgage over here.

Re: Mortgages NZ
I don't think this should be a problem for NZ banks. They will treat your UK property as a rental investment (presumably its rental income will cover its outgoings so it pays for itself).
The NZ property will then be your main residence for the purposes of your mortgage application. Try the national bank website, they have a good mortgage calculator and seem highly recommended by other immigrants.

Thanks for the info. The housing situation for us is a real pain - it would be much easier to rent for a year, but hubby says he won't go without the dogs!! However if the kids continue to argue and fight with each other he may well leave them behind!!
