Is Monday a bank holiday in Oz ?
Title says it all 
Just wanna know if I could potentially hear Monday re my visa or if it's going to be another silent day !

It's a bank holiday in Qld but I dont think it is in NSW (I think they 'celebrate' it in August).

apparently Qld had an extra public holiday this week, but no idea why, and why just them

Trust me, come August you will happy to be in NSW! Or mebe it's October. There is definately and Oct long weekend in NSW. In Qld we have nothing past the Mackay show day (22nd june, but hey, it's a public Holiday in Mackay!) until Christmas......

Yes, Labour day here in Brisbane/Queensland on Monday. Then another one for the Queens birthday on 12th June and then last but not least Wed 16th August for Brisbane Show.

Yes it is unfortunately, bloody holidays. they get far too many over here.

Only QLD and NT. It's Labour Day - May Day to the UK. The other states have it some other time. Hubby ticked off - the girls are off school (in QLD) but he works in NSW so off to work he goes

Also the day we get off for the Brisbane show(Ekka) depends on where you live as different areas have different days. I suppose they are thinking that at least this way people won't all go to the show on the same day.

By the way they are called PUBLIC holidays here in QLD not Bank Holidays! Aussies still look at us strangely when we say the old Brit lingo.

School and work as normal here in Victoria although the kids have had nothing but holidays lately . All of the local Catholic schools got an extra day off after Easter (they had the 2 week holiday early for the Commonwealth Games) because the Bishop felt sorry for them and gave them an extra day 
. I need a day off do you think that he will feel sorry for me .
