Default Mobile broadband no land line required ?

Hi All,
Just been looking at these mobile broadband cards for pc and laptops http://www.three.com.au/threestore/m...TCCap15.xhtml# you can get them from different company’s and there is no land line required. Has any one got one or had one, are they any good .
Thanks
Lee

The network coverage is fine if you live in metropolitan areas but it is not universal so if you live in outer suburbs or small country towns then it wont be any good at all.

I know people who do have them - usually for work in the cities and they think they are incredibly useful.

Hi there,
I've got a 3 mobile plan. That's pretty good however, some other telcos like Optus have some better offers. The main issue with mobile connections is the volume limitation which suffers the "heavy downloaders"! - if you can stay on a 4G plan that works nicely.

You can try using skype too, they do internet calls from landlines and phones

We use the Optus, Yellow DOngle.

But signed up for 12 months rather than a larger one off payment. Works fine, and gets emails sorted.

However, reported speeds of the little blighter ad-hoc, arent quite as convincingly fast as the actual connection speed.

Hi Lee & Jade,
I have had both Optus and Telstra ones. Very useful little things, brilliant for emails and specific web searching. Range is good and if you can get a signal on your mobile you will get the same on these. That, the signal on mobiles, is a whole different can of worms though.
Pricing is a bit over the top I have found, but then the argument can be made it is what it is. *shrugs and holds out hands to be cuffed by rampant running telcos*

Hi,
3 just added a 6G/$49 plan. Looks pretty interesting. - Like other telcos it's a 3.5G technology (HSDPA).

Cheers

Vodaphone has a special offer of 5G for 39 pm on the little USB dongle connection but I think you have to be a Vodaphone mobiloe user.
