Default Missing christmas U.K.

C'mon Guys hands up all those who miss Christmas u.k.
I miss the snow drifting pass the window ,In the street light,Walking knee high in the soft fresh snow.
The friendly smile of folk wishing me a merry christmas as i walk the street.
Carol singers holding their lanterns singing all the lovely carols.
All the unity of a family.
Giving and recieving gifts of joy.
The laughter and joy of children playing in the snow and most of all i miss all the goodwill to mankind.

Yeah good film that. Its a wonderful life...James stewart.

Beleive me, Christmas in UK this year has been shite. There is absolutley NO atmosphere what so ever. Shops are stacked with miserable bastards queing for ages and moaning about whats not in stock and how long they have to queue for, everyone rushing around with long faces near on trampling over prams or trying to dash past you as they see parents with buggies just a pure pain in the back side, its really not that great. Gone are the days where choirs and orchestras are playing xmas carols, people walking about with their tinsel on, xmas earings and a peice of mistletoe hanging above their heads, WITH A SMILE ON THEIR FACE. Wishing everyone a happy Xmas, Its such a shame, but I'm just telling it how it is over here.
The weather here is mild, and doesnt feel christmassy either
We took the kids to Oxford Street to see the lights, and took them to Hamleys and all that stuff, and we were disapointed in the whole vibe. Its such a shame. I myself is trying to bring a festive spirit into the home, as its our last one there for a while, but its when your out and about it just seems pretty drab. I know where I'd rather be! Roll on Xmas 2006!

Rain, snow, sun whatever or wherever it's the people that make the place and our friends are in the UK so that's where I'd sooner be for Crimbo for sure....

The grass is greener on the other side of the world no matter where you live.

Prefer Oz the other 364 days of the year, so I'm staying put.

Its my second Christmas in Aus and this one is even more than a mindbender than the first. Can't get used to Christmas in summer. Guess it might just be one of those differences that you never get over. But at least I'm not homesick this time around. Enjoy whatever is you're doing, wherever it is you're happening to do it. All the best.

I miss it... a bit. I just put on The Roy Wood big band on and feel a bit better, I might ask the rellies for some more cheesy UK xmas music.
Mind you, the kids are so excited this year and the littlest has really enjoyed seeing Santa, got to admit he is very accessible here in Perth!
I miss the mates and family, but there's lots I don't miss and would rather save up for a trip over in the European summer - we are all getting together in Greece, fingers crossed.
I'm trying extra hard to get those Christmas traditions going in the family, given a few years the weird sentimentallity for the UK xmas will have gone, yes, it is far too commercialised out there and the "winter festival" stuff is just silly. I have to remind myself that it was "never that good" unless I go back about 20 years, when I was a kid anyway!
Have a great Christmas everyone.

agreed, when did it last snow properly on Christmas - and I mean properly!
Much prefer it here - there is no Christmas rush until just a day or so away. Much less pressure, more effort on family and enjoying summer weather.

Great for kids too, long holidays, then a New Year. Why start a New Year in September?

Nah, you need a long summer holiday in the UK, otherwise you can't go anywhere nice, plus the teachers are stuck trying to babysit 30 sweaty kids who want to be outside!

I can honestly say I would rather poke pins in my eyes than go back to the UK for another cold and crappy winter Christmas.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to get back in the pool with my beer since its hit about 35 degrees today.
