Default Mind set on moving to perth

Thankyou for taking time to read my post.

This is my story....

I have a family of four(myself 25, girlfriend 23, son 3, daughter 9 months) and we would like to move to perth. I am 100% on the idea and my girlfriend is 70% on the idea. Basically i dont get on with my family but my girlfriend does hers so its harder for her. I have a sponsor(my uncle) who already lives in Perth with his family. Also i am a qualified city and guilds painter and decorator also certified plasterer. Girlfriend does all the hard work looking after the kids. You will all say just ask your uncle about all you need to know because he has been there and done it and living there. I dont want to do this because its kinda like a surprise, a big surprise. Basically i want to say that we have applied and could be going soon than be told by family dont go and them keep going on. This way hopefully they will accept that we are going! Basically i could, i wont say will because its a long way off, be living near to my uncle. He will help us with accomadation as we dont have the money to buy, we would rent. Again have not spoken to my uncle so this could be totally out the question. Just assuming. Money wise i would be taking £10.000 with us. What that converts to i dont know ill let you work that out for me. My questions i would like to ask are:
1- What other things do i need to consider, like employment? Is it difficult to gain work in construction?
2-would more money be needed to take over, or is that plenty considering i have a sponsor.
3-What are the first steps?
4-How long does the application take(2 years).

Basically any simple advice would be appreciated. My main worry is work. I definately need a job when i arrive say after the first couple of weeks, so thats basically all im worried about.

Thank you for any help.

best place to start is www.immi.gov.au to see what visa you would need to get and what it involves.

jobs you can have a look on www.seek.com.au this will give you an idea of whats out there

If you still decide to go for it be prepared for a long wait. Our application too 17 months from first thoughts to visa grant.

Good luck
