Mid-air incident
Looks like a Singapore to Perth A320 has made an emergency landing in Exmouth. 40 people have been injured. The airline has not been named but Jetstar and Tiger fly A320s between Singapore and Perth.

Re: Mid-air incident
As usual there's all kinds of crap being written about aviation stories. 300 people wouldn't fit on an A320. Perthnow is also saying its the A380!
It will be an A330 (Qantas - let the bashing begin! ). Sudden change of altitude.....sounds like clear air turbulence. That's why you always keep your seatbelt fastened!

Re: Mid-air incident
So how bad is this quantas thing? is it just the media hyping it all up, or have they really got a problem? my family used quantas in April this year n didn't have a problem. (this coming from someone who is a very nervous flyer).

Qantas are a shite airline but that's because of their crap service and not their safety record - which is one of the best in the industry.

Re: Mid-air incident
Flying over Oz is always very bumpy and there have been several incidents over the years with an altitude drops.
When SIA first got their A340's several people were injured when the plane dropped over the red centre. We flew on it a few weeks afterwards and the crew kept the seat-belt signs on when flying over that area.
Other notable bumpy areas are Sumatra, Indonesia and there is a mountain ridge in Turkey and every time you fly down the length of that it's hell!
In fact our last SIA flight from MEL to SIN (B777) was bumpy all the way.

Re: Mid-air incident
Just seen this on the news , that must of been so scary for everyone on board !
I will always wear my seatbelt now when flying, even when the sign says you can take it off, everyone with their seatbelts on were fine.

Really worried as we are flying out tonight with BA to Hong Kong then on to Brisbane with Quantas! I am a very nervous flyer but always try not to show it for my children. Really not looking forward to the flight now!!
