Looks like either there's some very rich or very stoopid people in Melbourne (or both!)

Ha ha. I've been to quite a few fundraising auctions at schools and wherever and it's very much about point-scoring.

People spend unbelievable amounts on what is no more than tat - not for altruistic reasons - but just to say 'I've got more money than you'.

Still, at least the school usually gets to keep the cash. I wonder if the woman paid up here? Sounds a bit iffy, if the painting was returned.
