Melbourne what's it like?

Re: Melbourne what's it like?
Hiya
My son and I moved to Melbourne (SE Suburbs) and we love it here. Tony is almost 16 and is in year 10 and he has never liked a school as much, the subjects are more varied and sport is varied and a shed load of it.
I work local so cannot really comment on the drive to work, but what I can say is that if I were in London, working the same distance, which I have, it would take me nearer an hour to get there rather than the 15 minutes it does now
You can only come here and try and if it is not to your taste, then either move on somewhere else or go back home. We are all made up of different things and our expectations are different, so to give an insight to our opinions and experiences is good, but it wont be the same for you
That is by no means a negative, just reality

Hi,
I have state sponsorship to go to Victoria but still have to get the visa sorted. We have two young children. If anybody has recently gone to Melbourne from the UK, we were wondering what you think of it.
One pressing concern we have is what is the food like :-) We are hoping that you can get a decent selection of fresh veg and good quality meat, perhaps from smaller outlets or in a market rather than from supermarkets.
How have you found the schools, good or bad? We like the outdoors and sports like tennis, what are the facilities like?
If you travel to work then what is the daily commute like?
How have you found the natives, friendly or hostile :-)
Sorry if this is a bit of a vague selection of questions but any opinions would be helpful.
Thanks.
